Join the Bible Society of South Africa in celebrating 204 years of Bible work!
The Bible Society of South Africa (BSSA) commemorates its 204th anniversary on Friday, 23 August 2024.
Since its founding in 1820, the BSSA and those in its service have faithfully strived to fulfil the vision of “a Bible for all”. In practice, this took the form of producing Bibles for the diverse people of South Africa in their heart languages and formats that make the Word of God accessible to them.
The Bible Society has survived through trying times like world wars and The Great Depression by the grace and provision of God. Through God’s favour and means, the Bible Society has distributed an estimated 42 million Bibles over the last two centuries.
As we build on this foundation, we continue to place our faith and trust in our heavenly Father – the only one who can prosper our efforts. As Proverbs 16:3 declares: “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”
August also serves as Bible Month and, in celebration, many churches have turned their focus to Bible distribution and fundraising for the BSSA. We also hosted our annual Run Walk Cycle for Bibles event, which invites people to participate in this event and be active for Bibles.
New website launched
One of the highlights of our birthday celebration this year is the launch of our new website. With its fresh look and feel, the site will be easier and more enjoyable to navigate. One of the most significant upgrades to the website is that it is now fully adaptable to any screen size, ensuring a smooth browsing experience regardless of your device. The payment page on our previous website made it cumbersome for donors to make donations. Thanks to a quick registration process and the activation of immediate payments, this has now been remedied.
